Westboro Church Targets Liz Taylor

Filed under:

Anti-gay hate group Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest Elizabeth Taylor's funeral because the actress 'spent her life in adultery and enabling proud fags,' according to the group's Twitter feed.

A longtime AIDS activist, Taylor was one of the first celebrities to publicly support AIDS research. The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation has raised over $100 million.

Fred Phelps' church is known for its in-your-face protests of solder and celebrity funerals. Earlier this month, the Supreme Court ruled the group was protected by the First Amendment.

Our friends at PopEater report Taylor's friends have one response to Westboro: 'Bring it on!' The best way to oppose Westboro Baptist Church's planned protest: a donation to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
