Katie Couric Replacement Rumors

Filed under:

Katie Couric hasn't officially announced that she's leaving the 'CBS Evening News' but rumors are already running rampant about a potential replacement. One name frequently mentioned: '60 Minutes' correspondent Scott Pelley.

Could Couric and Pelley swap jobs? The New York Post says Couric has been offered a '60 Minutes' regular position as part of a CBS package that includes a daytime talk show.

Pelley, a former White House correspondent, joined '60 Minutes' in 2004. Although not as big a star as Couric, Pelley has a reputation as a serious journalist.

When David Letterman asked about Couric potentially leaving the nightly news and noted most anchors stay for a long time, Couric joked it wasn't 'a CBS law' to remain in one position.
