Mexican entrepreneur Carlos Slim tops Forbes' annual list of the world's wealthiest people with a net worth of $74 billion. The telecom tycoon was also number one last year with a paltry $53.5 billion--looks like the recession is over!

Bill Gates and Warren Buffett place second and third with fortunes of $56 billion and $50 billion, respectively.

This year's wealthiest people have a combined wealth of $4.5 trillion, surpassing Germany's gross domestic product. The United States has the most billionaires with 413, six percent of which are new to the list.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's net worth jumped 238% last year to $13.5 billion, good enough for 52nd place. Fellow Facebook founders Eduardo Saverin and Dustin Moskovitz are also on the list.
