Space Shuttle Discovery Lands

The space shuttle Discovery landed just before noon today at Cape Canaveral, Fla., marking the beginning of the end of the shuttle program. 'For the final time: wheels stop,' said commander Steven Lindsey as Discovery came to a halt.

This was the last flight for the world's most-flown spaceship, which completed 39 missions and spent 365 days in space. On this 13-day mission, Discovery delivered supplies to the International Space Station.

Space shuttles Endeavour and Atlantis will make their final voyages later this year before NASA ends the shuttle program after 30 years. Captain Mark Kelly, husband of wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, will command the last Endeavour flight.

Once cleaned up, Discovery will go on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.
