Will modern technology reveal Stonehenge's ancient secrets? That's the hope of researchers using lasers to scan the 5000-year-old stones. The team's 3D laser scanning and digital imaging technology is trying to discover why the monument was built.Ancient markings have been found on the stones previously, including a Neolithic 'dagger' carving and an inscription by 'Wren,' thought to be 17th century graffiti by famed architect Sir Christopher Wren.
No one is sure why Stonehenge was built or how the builders transported 60 massive stones 150 miles from the quarry to an idyllic spot in the English countryside.
The laser survey is expected to be completed at the end of March.
