Strawberry Festival Opens Today

The annual Florida Strawberry Festival opens today in Plant City, Fla. The 11-day event includes a carnival midway with rides and games, entertainment, livestock shows and plenty of strawberry snacks.

Strawberry shortcake is the most popular festival food, with more than 30,000 bowls at $3.50 each expected sell over the festival's run. Other strawberry treats include cookies, funnel cake and strawberry-on-a-stick, because no festival is complete without food on a stick.

The main stage brings A-list country stars Lady Antebellum, Trace Adkins, George Jones, Tanya Tuckers and many more to Florida. Tickets range from $10-$45 and are available online.

For a little Strawberry Festival fun, try the stemming contest. Participants are given 25 strawberries and battle to stem them fastest for a trophy and grocery gift card.
