Anderson Cooper Attacked in Cairo

Filed under:

anderson cooper attacked cairo egyptAnderson Cooper and his CNN crew were attacked by protesters yesterday in Cairo, Egypt. A group of pro-government activists punched, kicked and shoved the 'Anderson Cooper 360º' host and members of his CNN news crew.

CNN Coverage Manager Steve Brusk tweeted that Cooper 'was punched 10 times in the head as pro-Mubarak mob surrounded him and his crew trying to cover demonstration.'

Pro-democracy protests in Cairo's Liberation Square had been peaceful until today, when pro- and anti-government protesters faced off as the military stood by. Protesters threw rocks and other projectiles at each other and some pro-democracy advocates accuse President Mubarak's administration of paying government supporters to attack opponents.
