Barbara Bush Supports Gay Marriage

Filed under:

barbara bush gay marriageFormer first daughter Barbara Bush has largely avoided the spotlight since her father left office in 2008 but is making news today after publicly coming out in support of gay marriage. Bush appears in a Human Rights Campaign video to say, 'I am Barbara Bush, and I am a New Yorker for marriage equality.'

George W. Bush opposes gay marriage and endorsed a failed Constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. He supports civil unions.

Laura Bush surprised many when she told Larry King last year that all couples who love each other should have 'the same sort of rights that everyone has.'

The HRC video project is part of the New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign.
